Leaders, you are the most profound person in the room. Why, is that because leaders how you lead has a profound impact on those you lead. Have ever sat down with yourself and realize the impact you make upon others. Thus, I propose this question: what impact would you like to make? What impact are you making upon those you lead, and the clients you serve.

It was in my first year in college as a student athlete and my coach made a profound impact upon my personal, collegiate career and my professional career. Still today her impact is felt, experienced by those I have led for over three decades and those I now coach and cultivate their leadership skills. You see leaders, your impact is not isolated and contained. Below are three ways in which your impact is experienced.

A leader of those you lead but it is those you lead and all of the people that they lead or that are a part of them. Therefore, your impact has a ripple effect.

  1. Measures your leadership effectiveness – your ability to impact situations, decisions and the culture determine your leadership effectiveness. How effective are you as a leader if the impact does not transform people or situations for the greater good and the outcomes are favorable. I am not referring to KPIs but does your impact bring about people being valued, respected, appreciated. Then their work ethics and accountability will reciprocate accordingly.

  1. Ripple Effect – leaders as stated your impact is not isolated, but it is experienced by those you lead, their loved ones, those in their circle, and even those they lead. They will pass on those traits, best practices, and habits they experienced from you as well as observed. You are not just impacting those you lead but generations long after your career. Think of it this way when you toss a rock into the body of water (ocean) it sets off waves. The waves represent those your impact indirectly upon others because those you impacted directly will transfer your words and principles to others.

  1. A Blueprint how to lead – as you lead many people in the organization observe you leading. They watch your mannerism, how you manage conflict, how you communicate and how you make decisions, how to manage demanding situations and how you manage your emotions. Leaders you are setting examples for others to learn how to lead, your style becomes the textbook for others to read and learn. Your leadership is a blueprint for someone else. It was my coach that shaped my blueprint on leadership. Whether you know it or not, how you are leading is a blueprint for others. The question is what is the blueprint that you are portraying.

In closing as a leader, you impact upon those you lead, and others have a profound impact on them. Your impact measures your leadership effectiveness, it has a ripple effect on generations to come, and your leadership style is a blueprint, and the question is your blueprint being replicated.  Leaders it is for this reason I am passionate about coaching executive leaders as I know their impact is so profound. I welcome an opportunity to support and serve as your executive coach.
